It still surprises me that even with as much information available on the Internet, people still write into our company HelpDesk asking “what is the fastest way to get started online?”.

They say they’ve tried “systems” and just haven’t been able to get any traction.

What I’ve discovered through my years in the trenches is that most of these people who claim to be giving you a system don’t even know what a system is. What do I mean?

Well, I have found a REAL Internet Marketing system is made up of 5 distinct components:

1. Discovery. It’s essential to fully understand and identify your market (with money to spend), THEN simply correlate their WANTS (not needs) with a desirable product.
2. Marketing. Your message must be clear and consistent, congruent with the desires of your market. Your message must be simple and focused.
3. Sales. Your sales system must be simple and reliable. All the fancy gimmicks and gadgets in the world will not make up for a discombobulated system that frustrates your customers.
4. Fulfillment. How your people get their stuff. No matter if it’s digital delivery online, or physical goods delivered offline, you must completely design your fulfillment system to serve your customer.
5. Continuity. I don’t mean those forced monthly payments – I mean how you consistently stay in contact with your customers and have them coming to you over and over again to buy more of your stuff. Your Help Desk. The continuity (continuing existence) of your business.

Without each of these pieces you don’t have a real system. And it is these “gaps” that incrementally decrease your likelihood of success with your online (or offline) business.

I don’t have time or space here to elaborate on all these pieces, but dont get the wrong idea. Please don’t blame the person who sold it to you if your so-called “system” doesn’t have all these pieces in place. It’s not their fault – they probably have given you their best but they have likely never experienced a real system before.

Many entrepreneurs just haven’t had any “systems” experience, and they “assume” you know stuff that you may not. I call it the “65% Rule”. Meaning that most of the courses, systems, etc are written at the 65th percentile – assuming you already know the first 65% foundational information.

Unfortunately, for you these assumptions create gaps. These gaps create frustration. The frustration causes you to be jaded and throw up your hands and think “this stuff doesn’t work”. Am I right?

The good news for you is my combined 19 years of U.S. Air Force and corporate Information Technology management and training experience put me smack-dab in the middle on proven, working systems for the better part of my lifetime.
